The Team

Featuring

Lisa Sniderman
Voice of Lis-who has Dermatomyositis

I'm Lisa Sniderman, an award-winning artist known as Aoede, playwright, author, filmmaker, disabled artist advocate, and have battled a rare chronic illness, a progressive muscle weakness autoimmune disease called Dermatomyositis, for 13 1/2 years, while obsessively creating to express and heal. I realized in all this time, through creating albums, musicals, films, and even my memoir, I kept so busy creating, I forgot to grieve... and realized through music I could reach others who may have also forgotten to grieve... so I created The Grieving Project. Helping others with chronic illness and disabilities gives me purpose.

Rachel Fulginiti
Voice of Danica-who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Hi, I'm Rachel Fulginiti. I'm a voice actor/audiobook narrator/singer/writer living in Los Angeles. I've had my own journey with childhood trauma and more recently a ten year struggle with infertility, which ultimately led to finding and adopting our miracle daughter through the US foster care system. Pain and struggle births growth and compassion. I'm honored to be a part of this special project!

Lauren Freedman
Voice of Charli-who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), POTS, MCAS

I'm Lauren Freedman, a voice actor, writer, and activist--and the host adn creator of Univisible Pod, an award-winning podcast about invisible and chronic illness and disability. I live with depression, anxiety, Hashimoto's disease (an autoimmune disorder of the thyroid), and sleep apnea. I experienced a health crisis in 2017 that inspires my advocacy work today, and have found great strength and healing in the chronic illness community. Having known the grief of a permanent, life-altering diagnosis, I was incredibly drawn to The Grief Project because it spoke directly to my heart. I hold a BA (Hons) in Acting from London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and am a longtime student of the School of Hard Knocks and What's-A-Matta-U. Fall down seven times, stand up eight.

David Francisco
Voice of Brandon-who has Anxiety, Depression, PTSD

Hey I’m David Francisco, and I’ve had my own journey with trauma and chronic illness. In 2016 I was paralyzed from the waist down by a distracted driver. I live with chronic pain and the loss of many bodily functions, but that doesn’t stop me from finding purpose in the tragedy. Now I’ve written a book and an album about the journey through suffering. I was drawn to this project since it has to do with suffering and finding your way through it. It was truly a pleasure to take part in!

About the Album Cover and Artist

I was immediately drawn to the artist, Jasmine Raskas’s painting on the album cover (originally titled “Entanglement”) to embody The Grieving Project: the spirals, the play of light and dark, the bold colors and textures, the messiness, the frenzy, the expressiveness. Jasmine herself is no stranger to chronic illness, having faced life altering complications of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) for many years. I asked Jasmine to integrate into her painting, 14 elements representing the 14 Stages of grief and thriving. She responded by painting her grief: 14 individual paintings! Each one expresses in paint one of the 14 Stages. Then, she shrunk them to fit on the painting! What I also love is that The Grieving Project wasn’t limited to the spoken word and music, but extended and crossed into the visual art!

These numbers represent the 14 locations for each of the 14 paintings Jasmine created of the stages of grieving and thriving.

Click on the images below to see the 14 paintings of the stages of grieving and thriving.

Sam Brown a visionary artist from New Mexico known for his spiral paintings, also contributed to The Grieving Project, inspired to paint this evocative piece.
